A still image from MiniDV tape. Best quality possible, all digital PAL from camcorder to right here - but doesn't compare with a proper mega-pixel digital camera. Lindenhof is in Zurich, overlooking the river and town.
Imaging you're standing in the picture above. Turn 90 degrees to the right and this is what you'd see. Linden refers to the tree and hof is house. Apparently the Romans used to hang out hereabouts.
One of hundreds of cows in the streets of Zurich in June 1998. These were all different and were sponsored by various organisations.
From the top of Mt Pilatus, Lucerne is visible far below. From the town there's a round trip via boat followed by the steepest cog railway in the world, finally descending by two cable cars.
A mountain path in summer. There are countless paths, all well-maintained and sign-posted. This is quite near St Moritz. That's me sitting down.
The same path further on. The path continues along the side of the Bernina Valley for several more miles.
This footpath also leads up to Schwarzsee, a tiny lake below the Matterhorn. This view looks down to the Zmuttgletscher moraine.
This footpath is called Panoramaweg. Lake Brienzersee is visible on the left. Observe the people on the rock pinnacle - the next picture is from that viewpoint, looking back here.
The footpath along the precipitous ridge is visible here. There are 3500 individual marked trails totaling over 50000 km in Switzerland. Walking heaven!
The River Aare at Interlaken.
The river Aare was very high this year, after the heavy snowfalls. The water's surface reflects the twilight sky.
The first of two pictures of Reichenbach Falls near the town of Meiringen. Sherlock Holmes is supposed to have fallen to his death over the waterfall.
This picture was taken looking down from a foot-bridge. The steps leading down give an indication of the scale of the falls.
Interesting architecture beside Lake Thunersee.
As seen from Zermatt on a June afternoon. I took many photos but this is the classic view.
Near Zermatt in the south of Switzerland. This shot was taken from the footpath to Schwarzsee. The glacier is Gornergletscher.
Sheep on a mountain path near Zermatt. Their horns are just one characteristic which differentiates them from British sheep.
In the town of Thun (pronounced 'toon'). The local 'Head & Grow' shop where homegrown sensimilla was sold in factory-made packets like those used for rolling tobacco.
A picturesque cobbled street with interesting little shops on two levels. Virtually all the shops were closed, but the absence of people shows off the interesting curves of the street.
Numerous swans congregate here where the fierce current flows out of the lake Thunersee.
